Holy Water
Holy Water is one of the special substances available in the player's equipment, provided he/she can buy it or acquire it during gameplay.
Holy Water is simply water blessed by a Builder priest. Unlike consumable potions, thief player characters do not consume, but can use it for a single specialised purpose: Harming and killing undead monsters.
Before offensive use against the undead, Holy Water needs to be used in conjunction with Water Arrows - the player needs to have these arrows selected while applying HW - granting the player Holy Water Arrows, a modified variant of regular Water Arrows. Unlike regular water arrows, which are harmless against all adversaries sans Fire Elementals, Holy Water Arrows can harm and kill the undead.
Be warned, though: Holy Water Arrows only last a limited amount of time (roughly 30 seconds). If you don't spend your Holy Water Arrows shooting undead within that time limit, your HWAs will lose their ability and revert to regular water arrows again. These are then once again harmless against the undead.
Holy Water isn't an infinite resource. Every vial of HW spent for blessing water arrows, in order to be able to fight undead creatures, is permanently depleted. As HW vials tend to be a rather uncommon item, you need to ration this resource thoughtfully, especially in missions featuring many patrolling and dangerous undead monsters.
