The FM is the second installment of TDM's short official mini-campaign, following the first mission, A New Job.
Playing the Training Mission before A New Job and The Tears of Saint Lucia is highly recommended, but not necessary.

The current iteration of this mission is based on reworking one of the initial demos for The Dark Mod (from its earliest days of playability) - the eponymous The Tears of Saint Lucia.
The mission was reworked one last time in early 2017 to become part of the official TDM introductory campaign (hence it is now "Mission 2", plus the mission's subtitle).
