Found under the top-level "View" menu, "Hide/Show" has 3 options:
- "Hide Selected" (or shortcut H).
- "Hide Deselected" (Ctrl+Shift~H)
- "Show hidden" (Ctrl~H). Undoes the effect of above two.
Typical Uses
These commands are great for temporarily hiding specific sets of objects, including ad-hoc sets formed with DR’s Groups or Selection Sets. "Hide Deselected" allows just a current item of interest to be seen and manipulated.
As an example, consider a sprawling DR Group, that you need to Ungroup temporarily to get at an individual member, thusly:
- Select just that Group with Shift~LMB
- Hide Deselected
- Ungroup Selection
- ESC to clear all
- Select the individual member, and do what you want with it
- Re-Select all (e.g., ESC to clear all, I to invert selection)
- Group Selection (restoring the original Group)
- Show hidden
By doing the "Hide Deselected" in step 2, getting just want you want selected for group inclusion in step 6 may be much faster.
