Mines are small, portable, mechanical traps the player character can set. Once placed on a flat surface and triggered, mines are armed and emit a quiet clicking noise (hinting at the moving clockwork inside). An armed mine is not timed, and will continue to wait and function until a non-player character or creature steps on it. This activates the mine.

Unlike flashbombs, which are non-retrievable after being activated and thrown, mines can be disarmed-and-reset by the player with a pair of lockpicks, then retrieved. This is very useful if a mine's placement in a certain position was unsatisfactory, accidental, or became redundant, and the player wants to disarm it and try over in a different location. However, caution is necessary, as getting too close to an already armed and working mine could cause the mine to set off and injure the plater.

Explosive mine (Mine)

This is the standard, more common variant of the mine, seen in most mission where mines appear. Once an armed mine is triggered by a non-player character or creature, it will create a small detonation, the explosive force being deadly to anyone standing in its vicinity.

The downside of this mine variant is that it's by far the loudest single item available for the player character's inventory. An explosion of the mine, especially in a public space with plenty of NPCs nearby, will draw their attention right away and make them very suspicious.

The mine is often used best not against human adversaries, but against various monsters and creatures, including the undead (many of whom .

Flashmine

The flashmine is a far more rarely seen variant of the mine, appearing only rarely in missions. Once an armed gas mine is triggered by a non-player character or creature, it will dispense a blinding flash of light, similar to the flashbomb. Functionally, this variant can be seen as a crossover of the explosive mine's appearance and functionality, with the effect of the flashbomb.
