Lantern

The hooded lantern is a small lantern, available for the player's inventory as a portable light source. The lantern is carried on the player's belt. It illuminates a small area in the player's immediate surroundings, with dim, but bright enough candle light.

Despite the player character usually needing to remain concealed in shadows, the player might occassionally require a small light source in certain overly dark areas, rooms and spaces, in order to better navigate or search his/her surroundings.

The simple hood of the lantern serves the in-game purpose of concealing the lit lantern with an opaque shroud, without the need to put out the candle inside the lantern every time the player need to avoid detection. The hood can be pulled down or up very quickly, making it easy for the player to conceal the lantern in the nick of time. It is advised that the lantern should only be used in spaces where the player can avoid visual detection by local patrols, guards or civilians.

The lantern is waterproof and can be kept lit and used for exploration even while swimming underwater.
