The idGameLocal game object has a set of methods, which are called by the closed source code. The sequence of this calls depends on the game situation, so this is what I observed so far.

Fresh Game Startup

  • idGameLocal()
    • Clear()
  • Init()

During Main Menu

  • HandleMainMenuCommands()

When starting a map afresh

  • MapShutdown()
    • MapClear()
  • InitFromNewMap()
    • MapShutdown() - if we have a previously loaded map
    • LoadMap()
    • MapPopulate() - spawns entities

When loading a savegame

  • MapShutdown()
    • MapClear()
  • InitFromSavegame()
    • LoadMap()

When completing a mission

  • MapShutdown()
    • MapClear()

When Quitting a map
